Sabil Umm Abbas is a historic water fountain (sabil) with a kuttab (school) above, built in 1867 AD (1284 AH) by Bamba Qadin in memory of her son, Abbas Helmi I. Located on Saliba Street in the Sayyida Zaynab area of Cairo, it features an octagonal shape, marble facades, wooden decorative brackets, a ribbed dome, floral marble ornamentation in the European Rococo style, and inscriptions in Arabic and Turkish. It provided clean drinking water to passersby and taught Quran in its school.
