al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah Mosque

Founded by Fatimid caliph al-Aziz in 990 CE and completed by his son al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah in 1013 CE, this historic mosque in Islamic Cairo features a monumental projecting entrance, a rectangular courtyard with arcades, and twin minarets flanking the western façade. It has served diverse roles over time—from barracks to a museum—and recently underwent restoration.
