The Hanging Church

The Hanging Church, located in Old Cairo above the southern gate of the Babylon Fortress, is one of Egypt’s oldest Coptic churches. Built in the 7th–9th century AD, it is famous for being suspended over the fortress’s ancient towers. The church features beautiful wooden ceilings, marble columns, and rare icons, and remains an important pilgrimage site for Coptic Christians.
