Inaugurated on 10 October 1988, the Cairo Opera House was gifted by Japan to Egypt and replaces the historic Khedivial Opera House (1869–1971). Located on Gezira Island in Zamalek, it blends modern and Islamic-inspired architecture. The complex includes a Grand Hall (1,200 seats), a Small Hall (500 seats), an Open-Air Theatre (600 seats), plus a music library, art gallery, and museums—serving as Egypt’s premier performing arts and cultural center.
