Built in 1160 AD by the Fatimid vizier Tala’i ibn Ruzzik, this mosque is known as the last major mosque of the Fatimid era. Located in Bab Zuwayla, Darb al-Ahmar, it is famously called the "Suspended Mosque" because it stands about 4 meters above street level, with shops underneath whose revenue helps fund the mosque. It features a large courtyard, vaulted arched galleries, marble columns, and distinctive brick and stone architecture with a Kufic inscription on its northern façade.
