Wadi Degla Protectorate

Wadi Degla Protectorate, declared in 1999 by Egypt’s Environmental Affairs Agency, is a natural reserve about 60 km² near Maadi, Cairo. Over limestone valleys formed some 50 million years ago, it offers scenic hikes, biking, desert flora and fauna—including mountain rabbits, red foxes, deer, reptiles—and peaceful escapes from the city noise.
