Al‑Muizz Street is Cairo’s oldest historic street, founded during Fatimid times in the 10th century. It runs from Bab al-Futuh to Bab Zuweila and features the greatest concentration of medieval Islamic monuments in the world—mosques, madrasas, palaces, sabil‑kuttabs, and traditional bazaars. Today it is a pedestrian open‑air museum filled with shops, restaurants, and cultural life.
